Of Mice and Moles...

It appears we've gotten the attention of some who disagree with our stance on things, some of whom chose to blog about us. We've thought long and hard on how to respond to this blog. Some of us didn't care one way or the other, others were all fired up and ready to come out swinging, and yet another was more inclined to ignore the attention altogether. So, as we at BWAN tend to do, we reached a compromise.

But as is the case once again, it seems people need clarification on what we do.

First of all, we are not here to be ANYTHING to a fandom of shippers. We don't do that. We are NOT on a boat. We are on dry land, sipping Margaritas and simply putting down to paper (or Blogger, as the case may be) our often analytical thoughts about this insanity.

Secondly, we do not EVER do anything other than call out hate and stupidity, with a bit of psychoanalysis thrown in for shits and giggles. We firmly believe that the only thing worse than hate itself is IGNORING that hate. It is our OPINION that by ignoring hate, you are inadvertently condoning that behavior. We sat back for a very long time and observed from the sidelines. It did not get better over time. In fact, it got worse. It became vicious and NO ONE would discuss it.

So we grew a set and decided to stand up and say that we did not believe this behavior was morally or socially acceptable. (Funny, seems our blogger from this morning feels the same way about us).

Here's the thing, we don't like what the ninnies have to say, so we blogged about it. And guess what? Another fandom blogger didn't like what WE had to say. So? SHE BLOGGED ABOUT IT. That is her right. She is allowed her opinion. We are allowed to disagree.

On that note, don't like us? Cool. We aren't insecure nor do we need your approval. We knew when we started BWAN we'd likely attract people who appreciated our efforts, as well as a fair share of folks who don't like what we have to say. We are more than capable of accepting that not everyone agrees with us. So, go ahead. BLOG ABOUT IT if that's what makes you feel better about yourself. But don't get ranty when people make sniping comments about your blog post. If you're going to put it out there, you better be ready and willing to deal with the crapstorm that heads your way.

Don't like to see us in your feed? Filter us out. Don't get upset if people you know DO like our opinions. Be an adult.

As for the assumptions about who is behind this? Suffice it to say there are MORE THAN TWO people in the universe capable of blogging and/or sharing an opinion. Neither RoseSee nor Delaney are BWAN  bloggers, guest bloggers or anything in-between.

In fact, if people would look at our past tweets they'd see we do not even agree with at least one of those aforementioned fandom members.
That's all for now.

We hope everyone at least attempted to go out and enjoy their weekend.

Oh, and one more thing. When you try a "social experiment" with this fandom, make sure it doesn't turn around and kick you in the ass.

  2. Please keep doing what you are doing. People have choice to ignore. Too much was ignored for too long and look how out of control it got. Also how does one blog define a whole group of supporters? That's a very nieve, shallow view. I had a "defend BWAN' post of my own ready to go but your own response has rendered it unnecessary.

  3. I for one stand behind you 100 percent and hope you continue to shine to light even after nonsten.com closes its vile doors.

Well, that is my opinion, too.
And I am totally agree with the two comments above. You guys are doing something that it had to be done. And you do it brilliantly.
So congratulations for the good work and thanks for this blog and for the laughs!
Oh, and Delaney and Rose are great, too. Rose's blog is fantastic and she is always positive, witty and sane in her opinions. Love her.

  5. yeah, I think sometimes you need to expose just how crazy some of these fans are and that the more private they went, the more they were left to themselves to be irrational and hateful. By going private, they were able to nurse some really sick ideas without any repercussions. I say good for you for doing what you did honestly, they have been horrible fans in this fandom, spreading lies and treating their crazy theories like facts. If someone doesn't like what you do? They can simply disagree and ignore you. If you're in their timeline? Let them skip over it, good god, it's not that big of a deal.

  6. The premise of that blog, that exposing hate is the same as propagating hate, was absurd. The blogger also kept insisting that she was not a ninnie in her comments, yet actually defended their right to hate by stating that they should be allowed to state their opinions without having their comments made public. There was just so much wrong in every thing she said it was hardly worth reading, let alone commenting. Exposing hate is not the same thing as hate. They are not even close. Keep doing what you are doing!!

  7. I have to say, I apologize for assuming RoseSee and Delaney were associate with you guys. I was wrong about that. Again, I apologize.

As for putting a spotlight on hate, I find it interesting that you focus all of it on nonstens when some shippers are just as hateful. Granted, when certain nonstens (stans) threaten Kristen's life, then of course her fans will be all up in arms over this. But when Kristens fans (also stans) start calling these nonstens' jobs threatening their livlihood, how is that any better? If you are against hate, then why not examine both sides? Both sides need to be examined and spied on and shown how crazed this entire situation is.

When I said turn the other cheek to the Kristen hate, I meant it. You can disagree with me. I am fine with that. But the problem with this fandom is that people generalize and assume that because one person feels a certain way, the entire group feels that way. Not all shippers are sane and loving and believe that Rob and Kristen are the perfect couple and will have perfect golden babies just like not all nonstens want to kill Kristen. That is my point. The fandom's problem isn't nonstens or shippers or people who might not think Rob/Kristen/Taylor are the best. The fandom's problem are the stans: those who do everything in their power to beat the other side down, those who threaten, those who are closeminded.

As for my "social experiment" I've apologized for that. I've hurt a lot of people and I regret it.

Now, this is your blog. You have a right to tweet what you want. I will go on my merry way and you have a nice life.
